Interesting, I didn't realize hitting enter on someone's name would indicate whether or not they were on or offline. I have learned something new, I guess I will have to figure something else out so far though haven't had a problem with it though. Actually I will hit enter on someone who is offline to see if they are really offline so in my case invisible won't work. I only do this if I really need to get hold of someone.

This may be a bit off topic, but I think this may be informative:

I've been Skypeing for several years, having started with a Skype
version older than 1.0.  I have observed that there are several kinds
of people, as far as how they prefer to use Skype.  Relevant to this
discussion, some prefer to be asked by typed chat line before being
called, others prefer a call with no chat lines at all, and others
jusst don't care one way or the other.  I try to ask each person how
they prefer to do things, but I honestly forget who says what
sometimes.  Sometimes this is a problem, because as we see here,
strong opinions do exist.

Keep in mind also that Skype, being global in nature, crosses many
ethnic and cultural boundaries, and so some of these things are as
related to cultures as to preferences.  In short, no answer is
globally right or wrong, so do as each person wants, to the best of
your ability.
