I would consider them obsolete. They should be replaced by 
org/apache/slide/store/txfile/TxFileContentStore and 
TxXMLFileDescriptorsStore. The old stores did not support
transactions, which is absolutly required by the cvs version
of slide. I think, you can switch from the old stores to the 
new ones without a need to convert your data. Just change your 
Domain.xml. 
Both stores are very fresh and may need some more testing.
But im am using TxFileContentStore on a production server, 
since the old store was  known to be buggy and required 
manual fixing quite often.  
 
MemoryStore and and the database stores at slidestore are a problem, 
since there is no direct replacement available.
