I'm very glad there's a "Reboot after Blue Screen" check box. That
was smart.
I think Chuck's point, reiterated by Aravind's recent post, is the
difference between advocacy, FUD and teasing.
Linux really and truly stands up on its own. It doesn't need to
beat the others down at all, so, by talking up the inadequacies of
other OS's instead of talking up the benefits of Linux, we come out
looking sore.
Remember that tired old phrase, "people only tease because they
have the most problems" that teachers bring out in primary school?
Same thing applies here...
Linux has enough staying power and benefits to hold it's own - we
don't need to make fun of anything else to be sure of what we have.
I can harp on the annoyances of NT all day (and I'm sure many of us
can, who've had the experience of using it)... But an audience to a
proposal will switch off far sooner given that than if I talk up
the efficiency, reliability and cost-benefits of Linux. If they
ask, "Why Linux and not NT?", then I can explain.
There's nothing cooler than saying - "Whoa! Don't be throwing away
that 486! I can use it!" "What the devil for?" "Well, if I hide
it under this desk, and give you Internet access from every
computer in your shop, that would be cool, right?" "Um, yeah.
Wow." (insert toothy grin here)
FUD sucks, Linux doesn't - so why waste the energy? It's counter
productive.

crucial new feature that NT4 admins will find comforting: the mouse
cursor shadow.)
