Please correct me if I err in the following:
Present were Basil, Predator, Jamie Honan, Ken Yap and John (surname
escapes)
Basically all of us were grappling with the kinds of issues
I spoke in the previous post.
It was felt, esp by Basil, that a more formal incorporation
was desirable for people to deal with us (i.e. same kind
of incorp as SLUG, requiring insurance etc.)
The issue of storage was brought up, again with no real solution.
Ken (or was it I) felt something along the lines of
* find recipient
* call to arms, a weekend at recipients to build, discard, install etc.
* the recipient to become a bit of a showcase for what can be done
Basil mentioned the 'picky donor', who would only accept Windows. Felt
the Linux only rule should be relaxed / looked at.
John was perhaps aghast at our percieved negativity, and undertook
to write to the Vic co-ordinator, to revamp the NSW section of the
Computerbank web page, and to become a collecting point for information.
Also to check with the possible recipient who had contacted us.
We all felt this would be good. Basil particularly felt the burden
of being organisor up till now, and was hard pressed.
There was a description of a number of garages / rooms in peoples homes
which were full of stuff.
If someone wanted a set of xterms, or text screens for example for email
access, and it was for a worthwhile cause, I'm quite sure that
we could organise a weekend to help this happen. I have no doubt
that many friends and volunteers would rise to the challenge.
