How old is your linux distribution that you're trying this on? I found that the 2.6 kernel versions of xconfig and gconfig had dependencies that were now impossible to satisfy, under RH7.2 (I guess that's about 2 years old). I would have had to manually build large sections of the distribution (since there were no .rpm files for them). In the end I decided that 7.2 was too old, and that I'd have a play with switching over to gentoo (compared with upgrading from 7.2 to 9.0, and then having to suffer exactly the same pain in a couple of years time). Gentoo is certainly not for beginners, but I'm hoping the time spent up front will pay off in time savings in the long term. luke -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
