Well if it's a new mac it would be os x. make sure they have it updated to latest version on the apple site which would be 9.2.2 for os 9 and 10.2.6 for os x its all a version of nix os x is basically bsd
is it locking up on sleep mode or shutdown reboot is it a laptop or desktop does it have a processor upgrade or stock apple...?
