If you got to "special" to shut down, they are using OS 9 or earlier.
Have them run disk repair or Norton if they have it. Disk Repair comes
with the OS. If it hangs on shut down it has some problems.

it freezes up? And would putting a router in between the two isolate the aBO
from the Mac? So far it seems like it has.
