Exactly that's the best way to do it I bring a cd in the house install simplemonitor (leave laptop in car I hate carrying it) if theres a problem or the slightest inkling of a problem I go out grab laptop plug it in and make the unit work. Put it back on theres if theres still the slightest of problem and I mean the SLIGHTEST I tell them to call a PC technician and give them a few good numbers to call for help and tell them and show them on my laptop that its working.

There's a solution to this problem - do only what you do best. You
should first go out there and get connectivity running between a computer
supplied by you (ie: Your trusty field laptop) and the internet. Once that
link is locked down, dialed in and stable, you are in a good position for
step #2 - call in a computer service tech and let them do their job.
Probbly your client has lots of things going on pc wise and you aren't
prepared to deal with all of their issues. For starters, it sounds like
they need a complete disinfection, followed by updated anti-virus software
installed on all the machines, along with all the needed updates and
patches. Again, if being a computer service tech is not your expertise,
then go find someone who does. As you noted, you're burning up a lot of
resources and not getting anywhere....
