I haven't really gone into any in depth study of the pictures that were sent out, but the RJ11 confused me a bit too.
It sounds like what you are creating here consists of the following... >From inside --- - The 48V Power Brick plugs into the wall - The RJ11 plug from the brick plugs into the wall plate provided - You then have an RJ11 cable AND an RJ45 cable running outside to the PoE box - There you balance the power, sense the length of the cable, and power the device it's plugged into. TWO PROBLEMS WITH THIS Using an RJ11 plug to supply power to the PoE box is NOT a great idea. I can't wait for the customer calls on their cell phone saying that their phone doesn't work in the jack we installed, and the internet is down. I saw the earlier message in this thread about going ahead and combining power and Ethernet at the jack to power the PoE device. Great idea. Basically, take the 48V DC power supply, put a "Standard size and polarity" barrel connector on it. Then take a small surface mount jack box and put the RJ45 and the barrel connector receiver on it. Then run Cat-5 out to your PoE box. Personally this seems redundant to me. The absolute best use for something like this would be at the top of a tower to power 3 access points. Putting this at a client site is overkill.
