Subject: RE: [smartBridges] Slow down problems

I provide a SOHO router at EVERY install (no built-in switch). This
completely eliminated the collisions. The router is 10 Meg on the WAN
side and auto 10/100 on the LAN side. I then SELL them a autosensing
10/100 switch (if they want it).

I had MUCHO collisions on the Ethernet side of the sB device prior to
adding these routers.

The router and switch are both cheapo units.

As a test, I setup 2 airBridge indoors on opposite sides of my house
connecting back to an aPPo. Then put these SOHO routers and switches on
the ethernet side (creating 2 LANs on opposite sides of my house). I
then invited 9 buddies (10 with me) over for a LAN party. We put 5 on
each LAN, and started playing LAN games and Internet Server games.
Every laptop had a 100 Meg connection (although eventually limited to
the T-1 speeds of my backbone). Absolutely no problems with
connectivity or speed. Ran SWEET!

Take a look at the Ethernet stats and see if you are getting collisions
or dropped packets.
