Hello Dave,

I’ve just become the recipient of one of Supermicro’s newest boards,
the X10SDV-TLN4F.

[...]

The issues that I’ve encountered so far:

1. Had to disable both COM1 and SOL redirection because the boot up
process would hang on loading asy
2. Had to specify acpi-user-options=0x4 otherwise
   - setting 0x2 and acpi_disable=true meant that you could only get
one boot out of the system. Trying to do a warm boot results in
arandom hang during boot. Needs a proper power cycle
   - setting 0x8 causes a random hang at some point during boot up
3. Setting 0x4 works to get you past boot up, but the integrated i350
Intel NICs only work for roughly 15 seconds

[...] The board also comes with a dual-port Intel X552/X557-AT
10GBASE-T integrated into the system on chip, which doesn’t show up
at all [...].

Sorry to resuscitate such an old thread, but I'm looking at buying one of these boards (X10SDV-6C-TLN4F) for home use. I'm curious if you resolved your ACPI and NIC issues and how (if at all) this board is working out for you, 2 years on.

I'm new to Illumos, but I've been following it for a few years now and am finally upgrading my hardware at home, and figured this was a good time to give it a real go. At work, OmniOS and SmartOS keep coming up in conversations, but none of us have any experience with Illumos, so this is also a first step, dipping my toe in, to see how it might fit into our network.

I'm interested in any and all (especially Illumos related) info or insight you have to share. :-)

---Alex
