To chime in as well ... I've used a X10SDV-TLN4F as my main illumos dev box for 
the past year with no problems. I used this same board to add X552/X557 support 
to the ixgbe driver last year. They're fine systems.

The only thing that's currently needed for this (and a plethora of other 
platforms) is enclosure management and SGPIO support in the AHCI driver if you 
want the locate/failure LEDs on any attached drive enclosure to work, such as 
on SMCI's SYS-5028D-TN4T system which has this board wired up to a SAS 
backplane. Not exactly a big thing, though, and of course SmartOS works just 
fine without it.
