Hello David I tether my iphone to my macbook, predominantly for using remote access to our clinical system.
It works well, is acceptably slow and so far has been reliable. The only problems I have had are with the Cisco VPN client. However, it is relatively expensive at about a tenner a month. Other options may work out cheaper, such as a preloaded 3 dongle.
