I have done a fair bit of detective work with this issue over the weekend If I tether the iphone to the Macbook I need to get a bolt-on; the price of the bolt-on looking at monthly charges is the same as an equivalent o2 USB dongle On the plus side an iphone tether can avoid the one off purchase price of a dongle and does not also involve needing to download software to the Macbook (I think) However the downside is probably battery life as well as tying the Macbook to the iphone for mobile broadband purposes In this regard I was in an o2 shop over the weekend and informed that there were newer USB dongle arriving in a few weeks which apparently have software fixes for Macbook compatibility issues Interestingly I emailed Vodafone asking if their USB dongles were reliable and compatible with Macbook's.........I asked for an honest answer.........they replied saying they did not support apple products in this way David Dr David Fox MFOM (GMC 3313497) Consultant occupational physician Serco occupational health Boundary House Middle Lane Birmingham B47 6LW T +44 (0) 8452600690 F +44 (0) 8450946513 [email protected] www.serco.com <http://www.serco.com> <http://www.serco.com/> This e-mail and any attachments are for the intended addressee(s) only and may contain confidential and/or privileged material. It works well, is acceptably slow and so far has been reliable. The only problems I have had are with the Cisco VPN client. However, it is relatively expensive at about a tenner a month. Other options may work out cheaper, such as a preloaded 3 dongle.
