I turned my iMac g5 power PC completely off while on a weeks holiday and when
I
came home all I got on startup was flashing question mark and face. It's about
6 years old and the OS has been updated since then but it's not the latest
Tiger? I had the memory expanded last November so there's plenty of room. I
have tried using C button on startup and inserting the Install disc 1 that came
with the computer. It started to run and then asked - "Select a destination to
install Mac OS X software" there was nothing in box to select. I then tried
disc utility that was on this install disc but got "First aid failed disc
utility stopped verifying permissions on Mac OS X install disc 1 because
following error no valid packages." Further down it said error -9997
Any suggestions or is there a problem with hard drive? Luckily I bought a
MacBook Pro last year so I still have internet access. Thanks Howard
