All you need to do is the following : Fix the IP address of the target computer on the network, so for example 192.168.0.100 Forward the ports for Remote Desktop through to 192.168.0.100 : 5900 TCP and 3283 UDP If your internet connection has a dynamic IP address, use either dyndns.com or no-ip.org to create a hostname such as benrubinstein.dyndns.org and install the update client on your target machine so that it always updates the IP address to that hostname In Screen Sharing (Macintosh HD > System > Library > CoreServices > Screen Sharing) connect to benrubinstein.dyndns.org (you'll need to type it each time), enter your username & password.
It should work to a computer using 10.3, unless the versions of screen sharing are too wildly different. http://portforward.com/ lists many routers and how to forward ports. You can fix the IP address of the machine in system preferences or via the DHCP reservation feature of your router/DHCP server.
