Am thinking of upgrading to Lion - will my old applications work on it?
Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Office etc...

My advice would be don't do it through iTunes unless you've already
upgraded to Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 or Mountain Lion 10.8.2 _AND_ iTunes
10.7.
The best way to do it on an iOS device is to go to *Settings - General
- Software Update *and let it do it whilst connected to your wireless
network. i've successfully updated an iPad 2, a new iPad, an iPhone
3Gs and an iPhone 4.
You'll still have to update to 10.7.5 or 10.8.2 and iTunes 10.7.
