bit of a rant here...my Macbook Air, under warranty, seems to have a non-functioning mic. If it was anyone else, I would go back to the shop and ask for a replacement/solution.

So far with apple, I've been shunted to a chat guy -- who made a note that we had checked everything conceivable and it was definitely a hardware error.

So I tried to book a Genius Bar appointment somewhere in London but they're all full.

So I rang up and was on hold for nearly half an hour listening to excruciating music with the occasional loud voice yelling nicely I would be answered as soon as possible, high call volume* blah blah before I got a guy from iOS services who was baffled as to why I was put through to him, and offered to arrange a call-back, but it turned out there are no call-back slots available so he suggested I book a Genius Bar appointment.

What exactly do I have to do to return this laptop? It's under warranty, and I bought it online from Apple... I'm tempted to just walk into the store and demand someone deal with it but don't want to waste time being given the run-around there too.
