Thanks Sam, perhaps that's best as they're less than £10 and iFixIt makes it look easy - although the ribbon cables worry me!
Thing is, it was working fine before iOS8, so it's either coincidence, or since then, things are off. I wasn't sure if they'd plug it in and do some diagnostic checks to ascertain any problem? Is that what they do?!?!
