Photos seems to be good. The alternatives include Photoshop Elements 15 for a one-off payment of around £80; or state of the art with Photoshop CC2015 plus Lightroom at £8.57 a month. (You don’t work in the cloud with the Creative Cloud applications but download them from Adobe onto your computer and use them in the usual way, Adobe checks every month or so online that you’ve paid your subscription).
