what resolution does it do? And can you say more about what was disappointing (eg colour/clarity)

You basically want the highest resolution you can get (I think I did mine at 1200), then to reduce them to something more agile, rather than scanning at a low resolution.

Thanks Jason. I have the flatbed scanner which has a slide holder - I shall persevere with that. I tried it some months ago but was disappointed - in all likelihood I was doing something wrong!

Hi, Andrew,

If you aren’t too bothered about getting high quality images from the slides I would look online for a slide scanner that copies them to a USB memory stick which you can the. Use with a suitable adapter to input to iPad/iPhone. They cost about £100. You can always try selling the slide scanner afterwards.

In lockdown we’ve scanned our many thousands of photo prints onto our Mac. I bought a Plustek photo scanner which I subsequently sold onto someone else who wanted to scan their backlog of prints. So I assume that you might be able to find a slide scanner that way.

We had slides too but I wasn’t bothered about quality that much and bought a 5Mp 'middle of Lidl' slide scanner for £19. Did the job but required a computer - wouldn’t work directly to either iPad or iPhone.
