Sounds like multi path. What standard is the AP using (802.11...)? if you have metal surfaces (mirrors?) in between they don't just attenuate the signal they bounce it around. So best case you get a low signal, worst case you get dead zones and other zones with super high signal... but no data throughput, because the signal is comprised of multiple signals transmitted at different times (carrying different data, but matching phase)
802.11g+a uses OFDM Modulation, which alleviates some of the problems with multipath. 802.11 and 802.11b uses CCK and Barker coding for the modulation which does next to nothing to help MP issues. Any suggestions? I tried changing the channel and that didn't help. This is driving me crazy. Any help appreciated.
