Thanks Martin. Appreciate the quick response.

I am using a Linksys 802.11b/g router with dd-wrt firmware, but have tried a
Airlink and Dlink with similar results. I am suspicious that since the AP
works in other parts of the facility that there is something causing the
interference. Perhaps some audio/digital equipment, wireless mics, etc...

Are there way to provide internet access to clients when the environment has
interference factors?

Regards,
Victor

Sounds like multi path. What standard is the AP using (802.11...)? if you
have metal surfaces (mirrors?) in between they don't just attenuate the
signal they bounce it around. So best case you get a low signal, worst case
you get dead zones and other zones with super high signal... but no data
throughput, because the signal is comprised of multiple signals transmitted
at different times (carrying different data, but matching phase)

802.11g+a uses OFDM Modulation, which alleviates some of the problems with
multipath. 802.11 and 802.11b uses CCK and Barker coding for the modulation
which does next to nothing to help MP issues.

Hello,

Has anyone experienced a situation where you move an access point to an area
and it just disappears or fades in and out.

Any suggestions? I tried changing the channel and that didn't help.

This is driving me crazy.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Victor
