You sound like you arrived at the same conclusion as I did at a much earlier age. After years of office work, some of it as an executive, I suddenly realized six months ago that one of my greatest ambitions was never to work in an office again in any capacity. So far, I'm managing, I'm pleased to say.
I think I'm probably less cynical because I'm less naive :-), but maybe its because I have always believed systems were there to be manipulated, I'm just better at it now because I have had more experience and practice so why be cynical? Its a challenge and a lot of fun :-)
Maybe "cynical" was the wrong word. I meant that I was more aware of how things work, and the mixture of motives that everybody has.
