And yet, that doesn't really matter, because, IMHO, you are an agent of change within OOo. That is just your nature.
Reminds of Neo in the Matrix.
OOo is becoming a huge project, one of the leading projects in the open source world. Our responsibility to the world is enormous. We are not a little, insignificant project anymore. The downside to that is that as we get bigger, we get a bit more boring. My 23 year old self would have been very angry at my current 43 year old self. The 23 year old would have called the 43 year old a sell out, boring, fat, and mediocre. But that's okay. Humans tend to see the world differently as we age, and projects do, too.
Not to diverge from this awesome conversation, but I find that this is more true than I ever thought. I am 25, and I teach high school students, and I look at the action of these people that are 11 - 7 years younger than me, and I see some of the things I did as HS student and I am now yelling at them for doing.
What I have come to realize in the past month or so is that /some/ of these things I just have to let them do, or else they will never learn otherwise.
A lot of the things you are saying here about Daniel, I find myself running into a lot in the school system. I am an optimists newcomer and I have a hard time fighting for the bureaucracy, and I am constantly being told I am too young and I will understand once I have been here longer. But, I guess the thing is I will learn that eventually.
I guess my point (although I am not sure why I am typing at this point) is that I with you, Christian, that we will all probably be mad with our 23 year old selves with we are 43, but if we don't act this way now, I think there would be bad consequences.
1) Perhaps some needed change won't be started by wide-eyed newcomers.
2) We won't learn how to be more suave and diplomatic. We have to learn through our successes and our failures.
3) We may regret not having tried to do something earlier.
I guess I am just giving a shout out for the youth. Not really disagreeing with you. Just saying, yeah you are right, and I like when people are fiery.
This has been a great thread. I am very glad that OOo Social was created. I think that was another one Daniel's ideas. :)
