Yes, I didn't think of Gmane, and Soekris doesn't provide an archive.
I did a generic Google search, which didn't turn up much.  Sorry for
the bother.

Have you used their USB adapters?  AT&T is currently selling a
rebranded AirCard 881 USB dongle.  Google is turning up that a few
Ubuntu users have had trouble getting the USB to work.  But then,
Ubuntu users are not known for their ability to troubleshoot
effectively on their own, so that's not saying much.  It does appear
that there's a sierra.c kernel module I can compile to make it work.
This would be the easiest option, since I can buy one directly from
AT&T.  They probably have them at the local retail stores.
