I have doubts about net5501 design too. I have some Geode LX boards here
(thin clients, various boards). Something is wrong with net5501 anyway.
For example PC Engines Alix boards - device is almost same (Geode LX
800MHz + MiniPCI + 3 VIA6105M ethernet chips), case is cramped and
without ventilation holes, but still runs much cooler than Soekris
net5501. Soekris LX CPU generates more heat. Why? Don't know. Clock is
the same, power likely too, only difference is that net5501 has 512MB
RAM vs. Alix 256MB.

Btw, i never have overheat issues with Alix boards, but i can't say same
with net5501. :-(
