The same happened with two net6501 here. The first one died after pfsense
update. The update rebooted the box automatically and it got stuck with rapid
flashing interface lights and constant red error light. I kept the thing off
for more than a week until I tried again but nothing changed.
Just yesterday I moved the other still working one to another place, plugged in
power again and the same symptoms, rapid interface lights and red error light
on. Also no serial console output on any of them, not even BIOS.
Can that be caused by the power plugs or something? I also opened both and they
look normally clean inside, no damaged caps, no burnings, no smelling. I am now
using TP-Link with OpenWRT but I miss my soekris pfsense and would like to get
the installations back running. Can I check if this is a hardware problem? Any
ideas anyone?

Apparently my net6501 also died today. I wanted
it to reboot due a software update too.
No
its dead. uManager with +++ isn't working and Error LED
does not go off.
My caps
and the board itself are all looking good.
So, maybe this is a faulty
batch? My net6501 was also about 04/2012 purchased.
I will try to RMA this at Soekris.
What operating system is everyone running who has had this problem? And
have you updated recently before the failures?
