hello two years ago I bought the set (built) since I was/am interested in writing software for it. The set works pretty well, I often "listen" (and look) to the navtex messages on 518k
Sensitity is not really good, and for the 14 Mhz band and for the AM MW I from time to time use a separate preselector. Especially with the dutch station at 747 K the set suffers from IM. Above 15 Mh sensitivity rapidly decreases. For me the fun is the challenge of the software, I could/can program, but when I started I did not know anything about signal handling. In Linux my main problem is a fight between pulseaudio and portaudio - regularly the linux system did crash on portaudio, the lib I use for soundcard handling. I ported the software to windows, but the dll's that are needed to run are well over 10Mb (I am using the Qt toolset for ui affairs). The elektor card itself is controlled by hamlib. With my current setup I am looking at a 192 k window (the samplerate of the card in my laptop) under linux. Under windows I am interfacing to dsound and when I run with 96 K my processor load goes up to over 80% (still have to look for asio drivers for my card) All in all 110 Euros for many months of fun (and learning) is not too much I would say. all the best jan 2010/1/30 hank smith <[email protected]> > > > hello > where did you get the radios from what website? > also can I tune with the keyboard? with those 2 sftwares mentioned? if so > how> > Hank > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "davidjmessing" <[email protected] <davidjmessing%40gmail.com> > > > To: <[email protected] <soft_radio%40yahoogroups.com>> > Sent: Friday, January 29, 2010 6:45 PM > Subject: [soft_radio] Elektor SDR, Anyone else use it?? > > >I have been seeing the posts on receiving below 2.1 mHz, modifying a > radio, > >etc. > > > > Last April I purchased an Elektor SDR, assembled and ready to use.
