Do you use Vista or Windows 7? 
I experienced heavy performance problems with my acer netbook on windows 7.
On XP everything is all right, processor power with winrad is about 40 % or
so @ 96 khz. I think its the new Digital Rights Management build into the
new Windows Sound Systems which "eats up" all the CPU power in my case.
