I'm using a new PC at work and I noticed this problem.

I use SI 2011SP2 and Photoshop CS5. (In my previous PC I used to use
Photoshop CS2 without problems)

I downloaded a keyboard test software and Alt didn't work there either so I
though it was a keyboard problem, and since my keyboard is Microsoft I
installed IntelliType just to try and to use those nice shortcuts.

It seems to work fine now or at least that's what I thought, but after
reading this thread it may be a little too soon to smile. I have Photoshop
loaded but I'm not using it too much, I'm working now with UVs since
yesterday so that may be the reason why it is working fine now even with PS
in the background.

btw, ALT key alone does work, but ALT+2 to ALT+9 doesn't.
ALT +0 and ALT+1 and some other combinations does work fine.
