I had no time to run through the posts here, but there is one, and very important benefit, scene debugging...In the last scene I had lost several scene files, and wasn't able to recover them, even the backups, and the versioned savings were unloadable. The built in scene debugging didn't help too much...Not to mention, that in Maya we used to resolve (years ago) cross version compatibility with rewriting the header to the proper version
