I agree with Steve about the fur and strands, crazy crazy fast. I do wish there was a publicly available hair fur shader that did dual scattering. I am pretty sure some folks here on the list have developed their own, but I don't have those kind of resources here at Janimation to roll our own.

i would suggest, getting the solid angle crew to look at some of your issues. i am sure they would like to see you use it and would help address the fur and transparency issues you might have.
