I’ll quote myself:
“If anything, what bothers me is that once plugins get integrated into XSI,
they become stagnant.”

so sure, I’d love to see progress – I totally agree that what doesn’t evolve
falls behind and XSI is gathering cobwebs in places.
XSI is a dream come true based on expectations I had over a decade ago – yet on
every single production it feels more like running behind the times. I’m all
with you on wanting new, better, more modern stuff – but I’m not going to bash
the decent tools that are there.

But what full blown 3D app doesn’t have that archaic feel today? cause I
haven’t come across it – and I’ve touched a little on most of them – enough to
know the grass is not greener elsewhere.
New and modern seems to happen in smaller, dedicated software but not in any of
the full blown 3D apps. Are they a dead end? I sure hope not – but they don’t
seem to be the shiny future either.

Maybe Pete, not functional is a bit harsh, i'm not trying to start a war, but
its been 10 years... it still works, great ! So does rubbing stones to light a
fire, but could we please move with the times on this one ?

Are you saying you wouldn't like to see new options ? the kind that can help us
face the challenges we meet "today" and not a decade ago ?

come on, you can say XSI hair is archaic, but it not being functional is
bollocks.

many productions have used it to good effect – and even some recent ones
(using other tools) struggle to achieve what is readily achieved with XSI’s out
of the box hair. Not to say there isn’t better stuff out there.
Same can be said for syflex.

If anything, what botters me is that once plugins get integrated into XSI,
they become stagnant.
But usually that first release, and its one subsequent update are quite
functional.

Cloth, hair/fur, Sculpt, it's what is missing, we need a character pipe :P

Maya only wins this because it has them, there archaic and most good
stuff is third party, but they are available.

Forget my request to move on to em_tree (although I want it) but here
is a plug in I think a lot of us need. Something like Marvelous Designer but
inside Softimage and most importantly without such a embarrassing bad nameJ

Might be a good place to start thinking about using FABRIC engine to
drive your plug ins… and you could open up a new revenue steam, buy selling it
to maya users for twice as much ;)

Seriously there is nothing like Marvelous Designer for high end work...
(did I say I hate that name and every time I say or read it I think of Billy
Crystal)

        Thanks for hearing our plea!

Never heard of Qualoth, there don't seem to be many examples on there
site, though there client list is extensive to say the least
