San Francisco still struggles with fiber... why didn't 'Google Fiber' come here first? :) Many thousands of dollars per month... if you are using it or not. If they did metering like power bills maybe that cost wouldn't be so scary.
We have played a little bit with Zync and talked directly with some Google product managers about using it. Internet speed and connectivity is still a hurdle but it is also something we are considering if we need to scale. Good point about the AC bill, one reason why GPU rendering can actually be expensive. Those things can get hawwt and really suck some juice.
