> "Well, I am at a bit of a loss, Sir. I do not know Admiral Booker all that
>well. I have spoken to him on many occassions, but I can not say that I know him
>or the condition of his fleet well enough to comment just yet. However, what you
>are telling me is surprising to say the least, and quite alarming at most. I can
>assure you that this will be looked into, and if it proves to be true I will act
>quickly to rectify the situation."
>
> Even as he said this, Lasiter thought that Booker was kind of a light weight.
>Never really had a sense of vision, forethought that he should've had. Lasiter
>also started to develop a list of possible replacements.
>
> "And that's all we're asking, Sam," Connor told him honestly. "My source on this
>is Celeste, here, and she is our ranking experct on the Romulans. Comes by it
>honestly," he said, a hint of a smile on his face. Celeste's expression hadn't
>changed. "I don't think they're trying to undermine a strong fleet. I think they
>honestly feel they're being taken for granted, dismissed as unimportant or not worthy
>of defending against. And I know that that is an attitude they wouldn't suffer
>lightly. Again, if you tell me he's your man, then we'll stand by that at STate and
>just do spin from this side. If you decide he's not the best man, then we'll spin
>that as well. We dont' want to interfere, Sam, we want to work together for a
>stronger, better Federation."

"Your input and cooperation is not only welcomed, but greatly appreciated Mr.
Secretary. As I said I will look into this, and I will get back to you and you to,
Mr. President, on what I find out. If Admiral Booker turns out to be less than an
optimal officer for the job, then action, swift action will be taken to rectify the
situation." Now, Lasiter did not mean all of that. Well most of it he did, just not
about the input.... As a career military officer he had a natural distrust for
diplomats and politicians. The input would be taken with a grain of salt, after all
it did come from a diplomat. The cooperation, however, would be met with cooperation.
As a career minded, honor bound military officer he would show great respect to
loyality to the Federation and to those that furthered her honorable goals.

"I do not mean to chat and run, Mr. President, Mr. Secretary, but I promised I would
only take up 15 minutes of your valuable time, and I have eaten up nearly 30." the
Admiral added with a smile. "I should also get a few feelers out about the situation
on the Romulan Border."
