"Your input and cooperation is not only welcomed, but greatly
appreciated Mr. Secretary. As I said I will look into this, and I will get
back to you and you to, Mr. President, on what I find out. If Admiral
Booker turns out to be less than an optimal officer for the job, then
action, swift action will be taken to rectify the situation." Now, Lasiter
did not mean all of that. Well most of it he did, just not about the
input.... As a career military officer he had a natural distrust for
diplomats and politicians. The input would be taken with a grain of salt,
after all it did come from a diplomat. The cooperation, however, would be
met with cooperation. As a career minded, honor bound military officer he
would show great respect to loyality to the Federation and to those that
furthered her honorable goals.
"I do not mean to chat and run, Mr. President, Mr. Secretary, but I promised
I would only take up 15 minutes of your valuable time, and I have eaten up
nearly 30." the Admiral added with a smile. "I should also get a few
feelers out about the situation on the Romulan Border."
They all stood, and the president again offered his hand. "I thank you for
the time you spared me today, Admiral. You're doing great things with
Starfleet. You have the administration's support."
