The desk sargent just bent over and piked up a large sealed crate and set it
on the desk. Then picking up a padd and handing it to Brennan.
"Admiral Lasiter's office called ahead to have this ready for you, Sir.
Please sign for it. I will need some ID as well, sir." he said.
Matt handed him his ID badge and then signed for the materials. He and Mary
then headed back to Sickbay with them.
Everything checked out just fine, and they were free to go with the crate.
Inside were misc. tissue samples, a blood sample, and the preliminary notes
that a physician would take upon reciept of a body that was "evidence".
The notes described the wounds- internal bleeding, a pair of cracked ribs,
and a trio of phaser burns from being shot all body shots.
Matt looked over the report, then took everything into the autopsy room. He
had the data displayed on the wall-sized monitor and ran through it as he
put the various samples to the analyzer. "Let's start with DNA, shall we?"
he said. That should give them the species, at least.
The DNA scan revealed that it was a Bajoran. The scans also revealed that
the individual, whos records were not on any file anywhere in the
Federation, was a carrier for a certain genetic condition. A de-generative
condition of the circulatory system. They would never had developed it, but
there was a good possibility that their offspring would. This condition,
known as Rudik's Disease, was also a rare condition. Effecting about on in
1.3 million Bajorans.
>From the other details Brennan was able to determine that it was a female,
about 35 years of age. They had a hard life, possibly in a mining camp
under Cardassian occupation, as her lungs and joints were not in the
"expected condition" of a healthy woman of her age.
