> >"I am sorry. I just have quite alot on my mind. Before I came here
tonight, I stopped by to see my brother for a social call. We got to
talking about when we were kids, and it sparked a few thoughts that were
hard to shake. Was I that distracting?" he answered trying to cover the
thoughts that were still running in the background of his mind.

"No, of courrrse not," she reassured him. "It was just unusual forrr you not to be
outspoken. I saw that you seemed trrroubled and was just a little worrrried about
you. I hope everrrything's all rrright between you and yourrr brrrotherr."

"Things are fine, thank you. It was jsut something that he said. Something that I
had heard him say before. One of those things, from childhood, that siblings tend to
say to one another when they get older. As they would say something, but not
directly, buy only in a metaphor from the past..."
Tyrus answered, with the dots finally being connected at the end. "Watching and
listening....", he continued under his breath.

>From the human's facial expression, tone of voice, and the draining of color from his

Shaking his head to clear the thoughts still milling about, and to refocus on the 2+
meter tall Caitian next to him. Not knowing exactly how to get out of the situation
he was with, he decided to tell her the story figuring that there would be no way for
her to know it's inter-brother meaning.

"My brother was telling me a story of when we were kids competing at everything from
sports to academics, and I was always known as Samuel Lasiter's kid brother. Samuel
was good at school work, I was the star athlete of the family. As a result we did
very different things. I would get into a bit more trouble. Well, one day he told
me, as I was being grounded for the 30th time, that the reason that Dad knew so much
was that he was always watching and listening. I did not know what he meant, until I
went to the Academy and Samuel was there serving as a training officer while taking
some graduate classes. The first time he nailed me on some cadet prank he told me and
the others involved that he was always watching and listening....." he went on to
describe the incident that he was nailed for. Admittedly it was rather amusing, in
hindsight, and yet typical for a cadet of his make. More importantly, Kitanya knew
that the CinC had put the fear of the Almighty in the Admiral sitting right next to
her.
