> "Over 10 different cultures are represented on the Carey. Most of the
crew is human, but very few are from Earth. Colonies and other human-esque
races make up most of the human population. However, we also have vulcans,
betazoids, bajorans just to name a few. You will have a chance to meet a
few at the reception.", he said as they approached the door. "Shall we.."

"Thank you, Captain," the ambassador said, stepping through the doors.

several officers present, and not all of them human.

The Ambassador's Shalan took up a post near the door while Haryail, Captain
T'landran, and Lora R'saran continued in to answer greetings. It was
evident that Dolari's Borg implants were the subject of some scrutiny and
comment, though few actually expressed their surprise with more than slight
murmurs. Lora R'saran, the cultural attache' who came across quite
charming, immediately began questioning a Bajoran officer regarding her
culture's unique religion and the celestial temple, while Captain T'landran
struck up conversation with a grizzled tactical officer about historical
battles and what "they would do if the battle took place in this day and
age." It seemed T'landran had quite a salty-dog's passion for comparing
fish stories. Dolari Haryail stuck close by Captain Moore while he
introduced her to his officers.

"You have quite a crew, Captain," she commented at one point, "Their
pheromones tell me they are, for the most part, most self-confident. I
expected some more hostility from Federation, considering the current
political atmosphere, but your staff has been more than courteous. Tell me,
has there been much reaction on Earth to recent events?"
