Dolari smiled faintly, obviously accustomed to the question. "Indeed, they
are not exactly subtle, are they? When I was sent to make first contact
with the Borg, they did what they normally do and assimilated my ship and
its entire crew, myself included. However, Borg continuity and order began
to break down on the vessel we were on. Borg assimilation technology is
incompatible with the Venasian telepathic mind, Captain, and they were
forced to disconnect us from the collective. They agreed to keep me in my
originally intended role as an ambassador. Do not worry, Captain. The
implants are completely separate from the collective. It was simply too
dangerous to remove them completely."

"That is comforting. Fortunate for us that you were able to properly resist the collective. Otherwise we would not have your company this evening."

Dolari acknowledged the compliment. "Thank you, Captain. We are also pleased, although it was not so much a conscious effort to resist the Borg than a physiological incompatibility that ultimately saved us, so we cannot take much credit. Even now, I believe the Borg are attempting to adapt their assimilation methods. The implants were somewhat cumbersome at first, but I did get used to them. In some ways, they even enhanced my physical well-being."

(response)

The cultural attache' spoke up then. "Perhaps you could tell us a little about your ship, Captain. This is my first time aboard a Starfleet vessel."
