"You said you had the last communications from the Connecticut-let's hear
them please."

McTiernan nodded. He tapped his PADD a few times to bring up the file. The
images appeared on the console at the head of the table. The familiar sounds
of a Runabout could be heard in the background as two scientists are talking.
One of the scientists is a male human. He is looking over the scanners. He
has pea greaen eyes and a dark complexion with short straight hair. The other
officer, who seems to be in charge of the mission is a human woman. She has
shoulder-length, blonde hair that is touched with darker highlights. She has
brown eyes. They are discussing the sensor readings. They are describing the
dark spart on Jupiter and how the senser are actually reading it as having
the structure of an average humanid eye.

McTiernan broke in briefly. "We tend to record these missions so the
scientists can go over the events after the fact more slowly. It allows for a more
in-dpeth examination of events by the science team."

On the screen, it was clear that the two officers were becoming more
agitated.

"There seems to be an energy buildup in the structure," replied the male.

McTiernan paused the film again. "That is LtCdr Gabriel Ares, the mission's
xenobiologist. The woman is Janice Howser, the geologist. LtCdr Howser was
the one who first noticed the irregularities in the atmosphere of Jupiter. She
was in th lab with LtCdr Ares at the time. They decided to take their
examination closer to the phenomenon."

"Confirmed" replied the woman as the film started up again. "I am unable to
identify the type of radiation, but it does appear to resonate in the visual
color spectrum. There is light starting to eminate from the area of the 'eye'."

"It definitely seems like the eye is getting more detailed. It's biological
structure is becoming formed. I wish we could get a sample of the DNA of the
thing," said the male.

"Energy buildup is continuing. It is going to have to start releasing the
energy soon or it might explode."

Gabe Ares looked up from his console. It was the first time that he
genuinely looked frightened. "The energy is moving closer to the cornea. It is
starting to look more and more like some sort of weapon."

Suddenly the cockpit of the Runabout filled with light and the screen went
blank. The familiar Federation logo filled the screen with a statment indicated
the that the transmission had ended.

The footage had been somewhat surprising. Aravis had not heard anything about what she was being assigned to, but it was clearly disturbing. "Have you folks been able to identify the type of energy or radiation that seemed to cause the incident?" she asked of the two scientists who had come with the information.
