Steven expected this. The only thing he had to deal with was experience and the truth. "I have been used as a pawn for one group to try to make a fool out of another. I was opposed at every turn by the person my superior officer had sent me to assist. I felt frustrated and made an absolute fool of, until I learned that the person I'd been sent to assist had been holding some sort of grudge against my own superior officer and was delighting in using me as a pawn to make a fool of those I worked for. While at the same time, my superior was using me to try to make the person they had sent me to assist look foolish. In the end, the only person to suffer the consequences was myself because the situation had devolved into a stalemate, and there was nothing else I could do but take myself out of the situation. "This mission strikes me as very important as Starfleet does not treat missing persons lightly, and the very fact that it has been going on for several years now - with ships missing as well as personnel - and that there seems to be some sort of a lead as to where to possibly find those who are missing, I don't want to learn later that I had been sent on a fools errand because someone is looking to make a fool of someone else. "Needless to say, Admiral Kitanya does not know of my thoughts on this matter. If I am to be a pawn, I want to know beforehand so that I do not spend the next while - however long it is - banging my head on transparent aluminum walls, which is painful and will get me nowhere.. If, on the other hand, I have been assigned to this mission as a genuine means of discovering what is going on, I will give it my absolute best efforts." [response?] Liridian out.
