>"And to you, sir. Thank you again for meeting with us.", Garibaldi said as
>he made his way to Thomas and the door.
>
>As they exited, Garibaldi commented, "That was quite interesting. The man
>and the vines on the walls."

Thomas replied, "Theran is very patriotic, but also very worried. We
encourage him to go into hiding, but he refuses. As for the vines, they are
an organic emergency system, in case this bunker should ever be discovered.
Should they sense the presence of someone unauthorized, they would expand
and take over the room before the intruder could leave. The vines can also
continue growing selectively throughout a hallway, slowing down any attack
while allowing us to escape."

"Doesn't sound like a plant would necessarily slow down armed soldiers that
well," Lucas scoffed.

Thomas smiled slightly. "Indeed, except that the vines are all part of one
plant. With each cut or broken stem, the plant emits a telepathic scream
which debilitates any Venasian who isn't wearing this." He pointed to a
small patch behind his ear. "A receptor suppressant, encoded to the plant's
telepathic frequency. Impossible to duplicate." He looked at both of them.
"It was developed by your very own Dr. Serana D'amondra."

Lucas grunted, clearly taken off-guard.

"She is an amazing woman....", Garibaldi mused. He was also sadened at impending
loss of Theran. While he did not know the Venasian well, his first impression was
that he was a basically good, decent being who was trying to do the best for his
people. It was most troubling that it would lead to his demise. Even more so with
the knowledge that it was coming, and soon.

"How do we keep in touch, Thomas?"
