Of all the things that Matt had said, Lasiter did not take issue. Until this
last one.
"Don't you dare wait that long.", Samuel started a tough ticked. "This job
killed off my marriage and poisioned my relations with my son. Don't you dare
wait. Serve as long as you want to, but only that long. Take time for you and
Carrhae. Don't make my mistake. You two have served, one way or another, for
longer than anyone has a right to expect. That includes me. Make time for
yourselves."
He was not mad at him, just that he did not want them to become married to
the
job.
There was a long pause before Matt said, "You're absolutely right, Sam. Who
knows how much time Carrhae and I have. She knows about this, like I said, but
she doesn't share it. I need to make every moment with her count." He'd been
married before, and hadn't always heeded that same advice.
"I'm glad you understand. Now, we should get outa here. The wedding party is
waiting..."
