Matt nodded. "Sam, I've hated keeping this secret from you. I've considered you a close friend and ally. I think you can understand why I can't discuss this with many people, though, especially those within Starfleet. The British Fleet learned of my secret once. I was held in a dungeon for three years before I could escape, with their surgeons running all sorts of tests on me to try and figure out how to make others like me."
