The Trill nodded. That did make sense considering the conditions that had
been described. "How about his general condition? Was there any history
of broken bones or other injuries."
It was clear that the questions had caught the other doctor off guard.
"Nothing unusual from what I could see. Like most children, he had the
usual injuries, but nothing recent."
"I was hoping that I might get a chance to examine him for a few moments
while we are down here," asked Dr. Nov as her gaze moved from her peer to
the Gul.
It probably did not surprise most of those in attendance that it was the
Gul who spoke. "I believe that could be arranged, " he said with a smile.
Just then the doors to the room opened again and Golan Dulath stepped in.
He was definitely thinner than he was before, and his pallor was not the
healthiest of colors. There was no obvious signs of abuse, though.
Watson stood instantly out of respect, "Golan Dulath. Federation Ambassador
James Watson-it is a pleasure to meet you at last."
There was more that the pallor surrounding Dulath that was different. He
was a man who lived life. In that way, he had always reminded Valtris of
Klingons. He always lived life heartily and to the fullest. Now he was a
shell of that man.
A weak smile filled the Professor's face. It seemed to brighten everything
about him and make him appear healthier. "Thank you, Ambassador," he said
as he glanced toward some of the others in Watson's group. He was pleased
to see Valtris and T'Kresh again. "It is good to see some old friends
again as well as some new faces." He noticed a Ferengi with the group.
His was a new Council member as well. "I see that the Council has seen
some growth since I was last a sitting member."
Valtris nodded. "You are correct, Professor Dulath," she said as she turned
to their new Ferengi companion. "This is Grand Proxy Rilg. He represents
the Ferengi Alliance at the pleasure of the Grande Nagesse."
(response?)
"How are you settling into your new life here on Cardassia?" asked the
Klingon. She saw no reason to beat around the bush. They were here for a
reason. The sooner they dealt with it, the sooner they could deal with the
realities of the situation. "I understand that you have taken a position at
the university."
