Just then the doors to the room opened again and Golan Dulath stepped in. He was definitely thinner than he was before, and his pallor was not the healthiest of colors. There was no obvious signs of abuse, though.

Watson stood instantly out of respect, "Golan Dulath. Federation Ambassador James Watson-it is a pleasure to meet you at last."

There was more that the pallor surrounding Dulath that was different. He was a man who lived life. In that way, he had always reminded Valtris of Klingons. He always lived life heartily and to the fullest. Now he was a shell of that man.

A weak smile filled the Professor's face. It seemed to brighten everything about him and make him appear healthier. "Thank you, Ambassador," he said as he glanced toward some of the others in Watson's group. He was pleased to see Valtris and T'Kresh again. "It is good to see some old friends again as well as some new faces." He noticed a Ferengi with the group. His was a new Council member as well. "I see that the Council has seen some growth since I was last a sitting member."

Valtris nodded. "You are correct, Professor Dulath," she said as she turned to their new Ferengi companion. "This is Grand Proxy Rilg. He represents the Ferengi Alliance at the pleasure of the Grande Nagesse."

Rilg waddled forward. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Professor. I have heard great things about you."

Golan raised his hands and smiled. "While there is much I have done in life, I am not sure that it has earned me the title 'great' as of yet. I do have fond memories of the station and the work that I did there. I have settled in hear, but I do regret the fact that I was recalled." He looked over the representatives from the Council. He seemed to be at ease, but it was clear that there was more he would like to say.

"How are you settling into your new life here on Cardassia?" asked the Klingon. She saw no reason to beat around the bush. They were here for a reason. The sooner they dealt with it, the sooner they could deal with the realities of the situation. "I understand that you have taken a position at the university."

"As with any move, it was a bit traumatic to my system. As I mentioned, I would have preferred to remain at Earth, but as you can expect, when Central Command calls, we all listen." Golan moved over to the table and rested his hands on the back of one of the chairs. "They have set me up in a wonderful position, and I have a chance to work with young minds, but it is not the life one would have chosen. What I have lost and what could have been has left me with some pain."

Gul Legrath stepped forward. He did not like the way the conversation was going.

Dulath raised his hand. "Do not worry, Legrath. I have no intention of implying that you and your people are abusing me and pretty much holding me hostage here on Cardassia." He turned and zeroed his iron gray eyes on the military man. "That would be foolish and would serve no purpose here."

Rilg looked to the others. Was it a message indicating that was the case?

Valtris had no doubt that it was a message from Dulath. That was the the truth and the Cardie Gul was supporting that belief with the stare that he was given her former colleague. "Perahps, you could take a vacation and visit us on the station, Professor. I understand that you are between terms at University."
