Everyone seemed to sit in an awkward silence. Thankfully, the servers
returned. This time, they carried with them a large serving bowl of soup,
that they served quietly.
T'Kresh turned to Gul Legrath as a small bowl was placed in front of her
and soup was ladled into it. "I want to thank you for this wonderful meal.
It is much more than I was expecting for a luncheon."
Watson nodded in agreement, "Here here."
The Gul's tense facial expression lightened as he turned to face the Council
Chair. "It is the least that we could do. You were kind enough to check
into the welfare of one of my people's most influential personalities. We
all have his best interest at heart."
Rilg took a sip of his soup. It was quite good, though it did not reflect
his own people's unique palate. He could respect it for the good
representation of gastronomy that it was. He turned to his side to ask
Ambassador Watons, "IS this your first time on Cardassia?"
"Yes..." he smiled as he took a sip on his own.
"How does it compare to your expectations, Ambassador?" asked Melora.
Rilg was surprised by her civility. She never really seemed all that
diplomatic. He could not help but wonder whether it was due to her being
home.
Valtris raised a glass as she joined the conversation. "My experience is
that most visits to planets are rarely what you expect them to be. That is
one of the most exciting parts of the job."
