Just then the doors parted and the prisoner was brought into the  room.  He
took the seat at the end of the table.  His lawyer was with  him and sat
immediately to his left.  Leaver seemed no worse for his  meeting with
Ensign Breknor, but he did look weary.  His hair was mussed,  but he was
still wearing an Engineering uniform.  He said nothing.

His lawyer on the other hand was finely dressed.  He wore a simple  pale
green suit with a mustard shirt and a burnt sienna tie.  Not  surprisingly,
he was a human.  He was balled and looked to be about in his  50s.  He
turned his eyes to the officers at the other end of the  table.  "I am Jacob
Greene, and I am here to represent Mr. Leaver.  I  would like to know what
specific charges are being pursued against him.

"Mr. Greene, your client is being charged with enterring a restricted area
and attacking station personnel," said Lt. Holt simply.  "These are very
dangerous charges considering recent events."

Geb was not surprised to see that Greene was coming across all blustery.  That is just the way that defence lawyers behaved.  They thought the police would back down if they felt threatened enough, particularly if their case was weak.  He wondered how well Lt. Holt would stand up to him.  He had already learned thaqt she was referred to by many people as the Ice Princess.

"I hope that you have more to base these charges on besides recent events, Lieutenant.  Mr. Leaver and his family are a well-connected family on Earth," responded the attorney.

Torgath could not believe that Greene was taking this approach.  He didn't care if Leaver's father was President of Earth.  He and Geb had captured him in the act of holding Commander Shevab hostage and aiming a weapon at him.

(guys?)
